Traditional Sitting Room in a Victorian House.
I wanted this living room to feel spacious but still full of personality, a proper mix of traditional charm and colour without feeling stuffy. The high ceilings with that beautiful rose moulding do a lot of the heavy lifting, so I leaned into that classic vibe but kept everything warm and inviting.
The abstract paintings above the sofa and chest of drawers bring in those pops of colour I love. They stop the room from feeling too formal and make the space feel a bit more playful and lived‑in.
The chandelier and the big window work together to give the room this soft, warm glow throughout the day. I used Aerial Tint on the walls because it’s subtle but still adds depth. It keeps everything feeling calm while letting the bolder pieces stand out.
The fireplace is really the star of the room. It’s got that elegant Victorian feel with the white marble surround and the delicate moulding that nods to the period without being over the top. The patterned tiles inside, those creams, browns, and golds add a bit of richness and warmth, almost like jewellery for the room.
Above it, the big mirror ties everything together. The carved wooden frame has that slightly ornate Victorian look, but it still feels grounded and classic. Between the fireplace and the mirror, you get this lovely focal point that anchors the whole space and gives it that timeless, well‑put‑together feel.
